CREATURE POST
BLOOM
ABOUT THE WORK
Bloom brings the ocean to Wellington city’s waterfront. View this electric slice of the underwater world from afar, or immerse yourself by wandering by its undulating tentacles and ocean soundscape.
The inspiration for Bloom came after reading about the worldwide proliferation of jellyfish caused by the depletion of fish stocks and rising ocean temperatures. We will have to get used to a great number of these creatures being around and, as the oceans are emptied of fish, some scientists are predicting that we will soon have to start eating them ourselves.
